Membership of the Friends of the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum is open to anybody who wishes to support the work & aims of the Museum. It supports the museum by raising money, providing voluntary work & services to the museum. All proceeds & activities are dedicated to the work of the museum in its acquisition, restoration & maintenance of items of historical value.
In joining the Friends of the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum you are helping to support the ongoing work of the museum in preserving our aviation heritage. If you decide to become a museum member you will be allocated a membership card, which entitles you to a variety of benefits this includes:
- 10% discount on all purchases in the museum shop
- 4 Newsletters per year keeping you informed of our news, exhibitions & events, which is distributed in March, June, September & December
- Opportunities to work as a volunteer in the museum
- Opportunities to work on the restoration & conservation of the museum exhibits
- Opportunities to become a museum trustee, representing the friends
- Opportunities to go live side on the airfield (subject to safety training)
Membership will enable you to help with work around the Museum site if you wish, you do not have to have an aviation trade or skill but with suitable training you can learn how to work on the exhibits. New members who wish to help in this way are asked to contact the Museum to organise to meet with someone from the restoration team.
We are currently trying to recruit additional volunteers to the various active projects that are already being undertaken successfully by our skilled volunteers. Not only will this help to increase the pace of the work but it will hopefully widen the pool of volunteers trained to work on exhibits. To help maintain the high quality of work that has become a museum standard.
In addition to the aircraft work there are several other skills that we are currently looking for from amongst our volunteers. These range from general DIY and general maintenance skills to computing.. So please think about getting more involved at the museum by becoming a member and perhaps volunteering to start working at the museum. It’s simple to do, down load the application form by clicking on the link below. Don’t forget to complete the GIFT AID part of the form as this helps us to generate additional funding from the government by claiming tax back. If you receive too many benefits in the Museum Shop we will not claim Gift Aid on your membership fee.
